We are delighted to announce the launch of the UK-SBA Membership Badge.
The Badge allows our members to demonstrate their status as a professional UK-SBA Registrant, and can be added to email signatures, websites, business cards and marketing material.
The Badge represents the latest expression of our mission to protect consumers and increase the recognition of professional Behaviour Analysis in the UK. Displaying the Badge conveys that practitioners meet standards relating to business practice, personal integrity and the protection of consumers of behaviour analytic services.

We would also like to tell you about our progress on a related aim – accreditation of our Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) an independent body accountable to the UK Parliament. The PSA oversees the ten statutory bodies that regulate health professionals in the United Kingdom and social care in England – for example, the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, which in turn regulates fifteen professions, including Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy) and the General Medical Council (the GMC, the regulator of Doctors in the UK).
The PSA accepts applications from organisations which hold registers for professions that are not subject to statutory regulation (such as the UK-SBA). If those organisations meet the PSA’s rigorous standards, the PSA will accredit their professional register.
The importance of PSA accreditation of Behaviour Analysis as a profession equivalent to the other professions it regulates cannot be overstated. If we are successful in our application, a PSA-accredited Register will represent a step-change for Behaviour Analysis in the UK. Registrants would be able to display the PSA quality mark alongside their UK-SBA badge, which would further increase the recognition of our field and provide consumers with an even greater degree of assurance.
We took the first step towards achieving this aim with the launch of the UK-SBA Register in May 2019. We will take the next step in November 2020, when we submit our application for accredited status to the PSA.
