All UKBA (cert) will possess a master’s degree, have completed post-graduate studies on an approved course sequence and undertaken a rigorous supervised training.  All UKBA (cert) agree to follow the UK-SBA Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct, to submit to the complaints procedure, and to complete ongoing continuing education.  The morning session will introduce the requirements and pathways to becoming a UKBA (cert). The session will be of particular interest to behaviour analysts who provide supervision and candidates looking for a path to UK certification.

  4. The participant will understand the various routes to becoming a UKBA (cert)
UK-SBA Competence Framework (3 Supervision CPDs)

This session will provide the details of the values-led UK-SBA competence framework. The framework will guide the supervision of postgraduate level behaviour analysts that will come into effect for those sitting the exam after January 2026. This session is of particular interest to individuals who provide behaviour analytic supervision.

Learning Objectives

  1. The participants will be able to describe the values that underpin the UKBA (cert) competence standards.
  2. The participants will describe the content of the UKBA (cert) competencies and reflect upon how they will use the competencies to guide their supervision.
  3. The participants will describe how to accurately document competency for the UKBA (cert).

Empowering People Through Assent & Consent in ABA - Dr T. Wade Brown and Dr Randi Melvin-Brown

Over two sessions we will explore the incorporation of assent-based treatment for those receiving Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services.

Empowering People Through Assent & Consent in ABA - Part 1 (3 Ethics CPDs)

We will lay the groundwork for framing programs with assent, assent withdrawal, and contributions of those receiving services as a priority. Participants will discuss the advantages of using assent-based services, strategies for building/maintaining assent-based protocols, and the importance of such considerations with respect to practicing compassionately. We will also provide examples of these concepts in relationship to our ethical standards.

Empowering People Through Assent & Consent in ABA - Part 2 (3 Ethics CPDs)

We will continue this dialog and provide practice opportunities for goal writing, problem-solving real-world examples, and setting a goals for ourselves to move forward with kindness and assent/consent.

Learning Objectives Over Both Sessions

  • Participants will be able to discuss the advantages of using assent-based interventions.
  • Participants will identify signs of assent-withdrawal and discuss strategies to build further rapport.
  • Participants will be able to discuss the advantages of incorporating compassionate-based care into their practice.
  • Participants will develop strategies to incorporate assent-based protocols into their practice of ABA.
  • Participants will practice writing goals that maintain person served dignity and target assent within the objective.
