May 2019 saw the launch of the UK-SBA Register, a crucial step in the advancement of Behaviour Analysis in the UK.

In addition to enhancing the credibility of our field and paving the way to professional recognition, the register allows consumers to check registrants’ experience and qualifications, as well as confirming that theyhave been DBS checked, have undertaken safeguarding training, and have personal liability insurance.

Obtaining an enhanced DBS check is straightforward for employees. However, the process has become far more challenging for independent practitioners.  Although it was previously possible to apply for a DBS check with “umbrella” companies, this route has now been closed. This is an issue faced by independent practitioners in a range of professions, not just behaviour analysts.

As a result, some of you have experienced delays when joining the UK-SBA Register or renewing an existing membership. We would like to assure you that we are working to resolve this issue, and remain committed to making all our membership-related processes as quick and effortless as possible.
