To ensure the UK-SBA adheres to best practice we work to the rules of governance detailed in our governing document, Model Articles of Association of UK-SBA.
The Board meets four times a year for quarterly Full Board meetings.  In addition to these four Board meetings we hold an Annual General Meeting each year for the whole membership to attend.
An overview for each of these meetings is given below:

AGMs

We hold one Annual General Meeting (AGM) towards the start of each year.  All members are invited to attend and to vote on key issues raised.  All members can also choose to vote via a nominated proxy, or via the UK-SBA Chair.  The Agenda, Proxy forms and other key information are circulated electronically and in good time before the AGM via email.  At each AGM the membership are asked to ratify the results of the November Elections and so it as at the AGM that we welcome our new Board Members and say goodbye to those Board members stepping down.

AGMs are currently held via Zoom, and this has allowed even more members to attend and get involved. It is a chance to give members a summary of all the projects the Board has been engaged in over the past twelve months, as well as key projects for the coming year.  Each of our Committee Chairs presents a summary of their projects for the past 12 months.  The Consumer Advisory Board Chair provides the voice for our Consumer Advisory Board and our Student Rep is present to represent our
UK-SBA Student Members.

We love hearing feedback from members, and often brilliant ideas arise from getting together.

Board Meetings

The UK-SBA Board meets quarterly to discuss progress on strategic goals, projects and address any concerns or opportunities that arise between meetings. Chairs of each of the committees feed back any updates to the Board, and whole Board decisions are voted on and recorded.

All members of the Board of the UK-SBA attend the Board Meetings and the Consumer Advisory Board is always represented by the Consumer Advisory Board Chair.  The Consumer Advisory Board members are invited to attend one Board Meeting each year to meet with the Board to present direct feedback on issues raised by the Consumer Advisory Board and to present their ideas for the year ahead.

Currently Board meetings are in person once per year and the rest are via Zoom. This has been beneficial in ensuring Board members can be from as wide a geographical spread as possible.
